Experiencing The Sacred...

This new moon there are various aspects and conventions of our current culture that I am creating space from. I'm excited about this, it feels powerful and of late I have felt a different capacity for cultivation and preservation of the sacred.

What creates a constricted feeling for you, like putting on a tight and narrow shoe? What inspires or motivates? We can feel it in our bodies when we are on the right track and when we take a moment to drop into our heart centers, we are instantly connected to our truth in a space of love, our own sacred space.

It seems to me that we have so much spiritual power and capacity to create but this all can be blocked or minimized by societal rules or pressures. Here in the states, the importance of or emphasis on money and materialism (oftentimes above all else) is something we are all exposed to and even inundated with...this can create distance between how we live and experience our lives and the spiritual laws that can nourish our souls and societies. Dropping into the heart space is simple but it becomes more challenging when so much in your environment is pulling you into the mind or keeping your focus on a screen. Living life abundantly is a beautiful aspiration but if it is in spite of the health of the planet or other people or out of touch with spirit we experience unrest in our souls and this plays out on a microcosmic and macrocosmic level.

One of my earlier mentors and spiritual teachers explained our connection to the whole by highlighting four communities (which I have likely mentioned before) - Self, other humans, nature (earth/plants/animals) and the spirit realm. We are a part of this whole and it is also important to create a balance in relationship with all of these communities; it is all sacred.

Ritual is something that allows us to imbue meaning and honor the sacred in our life experience. With the summer solstice around the corner, I'm excited for an opportunity to share some simple rituals that honor nature and the spirit realm in particular and also help cultivate these relationships. In many ways, I feel there is nothing more important than knowing what is sacred, experiencing it and honoring it. For me, it is these communities and relationships.

Living in a way that allows expression of the fullness of who we are (so much love and creativity) happens when we seek balance in our relationships with the above. A courage is also required, to move beyond living in realities that are not our own to release convention and externally driven value systems. There is also a magic here, when we live in this way the unfolding is often beyond anything we might have conceived, we are fully open to the flow of life. It is also clear that we don't control anything but rather, when we are tuned into the sacredness of our experience it leads to an alignment that transcends so much.

It is simple but not easy. However, I have found that when you are connected you are inspired, in-spirit, and it lights your way. And so, to usher in this summer season I am releasing what does not align and celebrating the rest, honoring it all, grateful for all of it, and committed to what is sacred...my own wellbeing, all of the beautiful people I know, all of the flora and fauna in and around my home and on the whole of the planet, all of those in the spirit realm who are friends and guides, supportive and loving.
